Sometimes death can be beautiful

OK so I have once again got a bit carried away on photoshop with the skull drawing I did the other day, its hard to know when to stop!!

I found a box of animal skulls in the school art cupboard and have wanted to do something with them for ages!
Collaging a wallpaper panel together from bits and pieces of various projects. I quite like the colour and playful element contrasted with the pencil tones of the skull and smudgy pastel rats tails.

Did the skull drawing then played with the photocopier to try and get a better contrast and a grainy quality. I then thought I'd make the skull symmetrical and try a more delicate ink watercolour and wash image

Beach Buoys

yay, found the lead. These are some watercolour and pencil sketches of the buoys, and the beginnings of an embroidered one.

After visiting the Tate in St Ives recently, I was just as intrigued with the buoys on the beach as I was with Dexter Dalwood's paintings. I liked how the bright attractive colours were rhythmically scattered across the sand, held together by the manky ropes and chains submerged in seaweed goup! Brilliant. Here are some Photoshopped images and photos. They need ALOT more work but are at that fertile stage! I have also done some drawings and embroidery but cant find the right lead to upload the images...tut and role of the eyes!

Screen printy goodness!

A little outburst of duck patterns that yet again found it's way onto anything I could get my hands on!!!

Hand made cards

This was a thank you card because sometimes it needs to be said and making one is a nice gesture!
This card is for Uncle Micks birthday and is a reminder we need some surfing practice after a few near death experiences last summer! (an attempt to convince him to move to Cornwall!)
This was a tag I doodled for my nieces birthday, I prefered the tag to the present but I don't think she would have been impressed to receive a tag attached to nothing!

Polka dotty

Getting a bit carried away with the whole dot thing!

Some dottydolly pegs made for arts market ages ago, was great fun making them, not so great standing in the cold selling them!

Playing with texture and application...and having fun with spraypaint!

Hand drawn flowers

I did these a while ago and thought I would add it to my blog, my aim is to build up a collection of drawings and keep them to one side of my mind until I know how I want to develop them further. I am seeing these drawings as repeats on wallpaper I think.....or maybe onto plates and cups....or maybe they should stay as drawings...so many option, I am happy to leave them at the 'anything is possible stage' for now.

I have worked on this more since the photo, the orange lines didn't seem crisp enough so I have added defining blues and greens to make it pop. Will up load latest improvements soon.

Time Travel

I love old stuff!!!
Some wallpaper designs I created by using a grandfather clock as the motif and repeating, rotating, duplicating etc etc, lots of button pressing and alterations. I wanted to place the designs with something you would find at your grannies, flying ducks and of course an old hat/coat stand just because I have one in my hall way and I love it!
Two wallpaper designs using an old lampost as a motif. I love the impracticality of the concrete Le Corbusier inspired chair by Stefan Zwicky and it ties nicely into the idea that the outside is slipping inside.

Own Living room design

Trying to create a modern, fresh yet cosy space. The wall paper samples are my own designs using grandfather clocks. Part of my 'Time Travel' Series that I will put on here at some point ;)

Gallery visit

Saw Tony Cragg's Cumulus (1998) last weekend at the Tate and was seduced by the translucent finish and simplicity of the white.
