It has been some time since my last post on account of the fact lots of things have changed! here is a recent overview ....moved house, left job, went of holiday, had surfing lessons, felt sick, did a test... found out I'm pregnant, started my MA course.....and have first baby scan tomorrow......and breath....
It's been a bit hectic and morning sickness has taken a hold so blogging anything fun was the last thing on my mind! I am going to start a new blog, to track the journey on the course, one task we have to do is hand in a diary of the first trimester so might as well do it all in one go. I'll put the blog link on here once I've sussed out what I need to put on it. Can't wait to get stuck in to a project and make some mess!!!

Bilbao Guggenheim
On a recent trip to the Guggenheim I got to see the work of Anish Kapoor, Willem de Kooning, Robert Motherwell, Jeff Koons (Puppy pic below), Louise Bourgeois and Robert Rauschenberg. Richard Serra has a fantastic installation in the permanent collection called The Matter of Time. What was great was the chance to look at artworks in a quiet space that was not swamped by hoards of people. I couldn't take pictures inside but the building designed by Frank Gehry was brilliant to see.

Easter posy!
Over Easter, after eating a steady flow of eggs continually for some time, I decided to treat myself to an Easter posy of pretty flowers as it's the only thing I knew I wouldn't eat! I enjoyed trying to draw the details using subtle pencil marks and came up with a pattern idea which I have started to develop in a new drawing. Here are a few experiments with colour and repetition. I quite like the repeat not being symettrical...hmmmm....more things to come me thinks...
Feathery fun
Playing around with a feather. The pencil drawing took about 5 hours, which resulted in all kinds of cramps, fingers, back, legs etc....drawing tucked up like an origami sculpture on a tiny chair not advisable. I have then photo shopped it and played around with composition/ colours etc. I would improve the overall quality by using the scanner for the drawing. As it was broken I had to use a digital photo which lost some quality. Was fun though!!

Sometimes death can be beautiful
OK so I have once again got a bit carried away on photoshop with the skull drawing I did the other day, its hard to know when to stop!!
I found a box of animal skulls in the school art cupboard and have wanted to do something with them for ages!
Collaging a wallpaper panel together from bits and pieces of various projects. I quite like the colour and playful element contrasted with the pencil tones of the skull and smudgy pastel rats tails.
Did the skull drawing then played with the photocopier to try and get a better contrast and a grainy quality. I then thought I'd make the skull symmetrical and try a more delicate ink watercolour and wash image

Beach Buoys
yay, found the lead. These are some watercolour and pencil sketches of the buoys, and the beginnings of an embroidered one.
After visiting the Tate in St Ives recently, I was just as intrigued with the buoys on the beach as I was with Dexter Dalwood's paintings. I liked how the bright attractive colours were rhythmically scattered across the sand, held together by the manky ropes and chains submerged in seaweed goup! Brilliant. Here are some Photoshopped images and photos. They need ALOT more work but are at that fertile stage! I have also done some drawings and embroidery but cant find the right lead to upload the images...tut and role of the eyes!
